The Mohegan Sun Looking to Get a $750 Million Windfall from South Korean Casino

The Mohegan Sun Tribal Gaming Authority (MTGA) is set to finance a casino project in South Korea that could see them receive $750 million in earnings. The new casino is set to be located right next to the Incheon International Airport, which sits on reclaimed land in between two natural islands: Yongyu to the west and Yeongjong to the east. The proximity to the airport – which served close to 50 million passengers in 2015 alone – will see the Mohegan Casino profit immensely in the years to come. As a result of that, the airport itself has gotten involved to finance the project, while KCC Corp. – a large producer of chemicals in South Korea – has been touted as another partner in the development. Additionally, the 2018 Winter Olympics will be staged in Pyeongchang – 180 km (110 mi) east of the Capital Seoul – should see the casino also capitalize on the global event if it gets completed on time.
